I would like to send my extremely belated condolences to the Volmes family. If I have the family tree correct, Peter's father was my Grandmother, Pelagia Volmes Katsarelis's, brother. I believe that makes us second cousins. Sadly, the family connection got lost between generations. But I wanted to wish the family well, one Greek American Episcopalian to another. Regards from a cousin, Cynthia Katsarelis. PS. The family resemblance between Peter and my grandmother is striking.

Thank you, Peter for welcoming us when we moved in next to your home 6 years ago. You were the best neighbor anyone could hope for. You were funny and wise and always offering words of support. Jim and I will always think of you. May the Lord welcome you into his kingdom. Pray for us. "Have a blessed day!"

Sincere condolences to your family. Peter was a good neighbor - always ready to share a friendly greeting or a bit of wisdom. And he beamed with pride when talking about his daughter. A good man who left a positive mark on the world.

Peter - will miss the conversations and the chance to get you to laugh. You are and will remain a good friend, It is a true delight to have had some opportunity to share some meals, discussion, and an occasional trip to Brugger's for a Blueberry Bagel and a "large decafe coffee". God speed as you reunite with your family in heaven. I will finish your remaining wish to be added to the Veterans Kiosk. -- Your Friend Skip

I was saddened to hear of Peter’s passing. Peter was a close colleague and mentor during my years at The Post-Standard in the 1960's and remained a friend when I worked at other publications. Though I haven’t been in touch with Peter for nearly 50 years, I still have fond memories of our time working together. Among them: Peter’s persistence in pursuing a law license, meeting any failure with a smile and a determination to try again until he succeeded! That was an inspiration.
My deepest sympathies.
