Obituary of Patricia Ruth Cummings

Patricia (Pat) Ruth Cummings (Cornaire), daughter of William and Ruth Cornaire and a life resident of Syracuse passed away November 1st, 2021.  She was predeceased by her husband Spence who passed in 1969, her William in 1931, her brother James Cornaire in 2007, and her sister Betty Bigsby in 1997.
Patricia graduated Central High School in 1950.  While raising her 12 children she graduated from CCBI in 1976; worked for Dale Carnegie for 22 years retiring as Office Manager in 1988.
She was a member of the Syracuse Chorale for 22 years, many years spent as Membership Chairperson. She volunteered in several different capacities Blessed Sacrament Church and School where all her children attended.  
A very proud and loving mother, she is survived by 5 daughters: Laura Ruth (Kevin Burgess) Cummings, Karen C. (Michael) Brady, Janet Patricia (William) Bucher, Betty Ann (Dr. John B.) Woodland, Christine A. (Christian Tuite) Cummings; and seven sons Mark (Linda) Spencer, Geoffrey A., Bruce J. (Dodie), Paul W. (Lisa A.), Craig S. (Michelle), Andy L. (Gloria), Kenneth C. (Debbie).    Her pride and joy are her 35 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren – and a couple on the way.
Mom’s favorite retreat was Matilda Bay on Cranberry Lake, NY. Where she spent many a summer month.  Pat was passionate about her gardens both indoors and out, and propagated her favorite seasonal plants for decades.  Her yard is a wonder to behold and was a source of pride for her and her friends and family.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.  The funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
