Obituary of John L. Haydon
John Luthor Haydon, passed away on October 22 in Spring Hill, Florida at the age of 102. John was born to Mary and Zora Haydon in Liverpool, NY and grew up there with his brother David and sister Priscilla.
When war broke out in 1939, John joined the ARMY when he was 20 and served with the 1330th
AAF base unit for 6 years during WWII in the USA, China, India and Burma as Master Sergeant
while earning numerous medals and merit citations.
John later met and married the love of his life, Ervena. John and Ervena were married in 1951
and enjoyed their life together for 64 years.
During their retirement, John and Ervena were snowbirds for a number of years, traveling between Liverpool, NY and New Port Richie before finally settling in Spring Hill, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings and was predeceased by his wife Ervena in 2015. John is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services for John will be held on Thursday 12/2/21 at the Welter-Price Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse, at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery.
