Dr. Romeu taught so much more than Spanish language and literature: resilience, courage, strength, love of family, friends and country, and enjoyment of good times. I was fortunate to be her student and delighted to correspond with her from my graduation in ‘76 until last year. May she rest in peace. Carol Candela

My deep condolences for the passing of Raquel, or Raquelita as we on the language faculty at LeMoyne called her. In addition to her knowledge of Spanish language, literature, history and Cuba she shared every day, she brought always great humor, kindness, stories and beliefs that expanded our humanity. And together she and I developed and grew the Modern Language Club at LeMoyne. I haven't seen her in 40 years as I moved to D.C. in 1980 but she is with me always. Love to you, Raquelita. Jackye
