Pat was a treasure—- not only a teacher of academics but a teacher of life. She taught lessons through the many stories she told and through the life she lived. It was always a joy to be in her presence. I’m sure she is continuing her “adventures” with Marge, Ginny and many other friends. She will be truly missed but remembered always

Our condolences on the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful woman and truly one of a kind. She was a force to be reckoned with when she chose. She’s probably correcting my punctuation now.You have Lyn and my deepest sympathies. Mick and Lyn O’Brien.

Pat Garvey was just ALWAYS supposed to 'be here'. I taught at Franklin Elementary School, SCSD, for a few years before she retired. She was an inspiration, a support, a shoulder. Mrs. Garvey told that if I really had two degrees from SUNY Cortland (she said, 'Normal School') I could certainly do well at Franklin. "Give it time.", she said. She was right! Pat and a couple other colleagues (cronies?) kept us in stiches as they taught well and kept students under control. It was pretty much the same fun after she (they) retired; with the utmost respect for decency and honor and law they managed to help us see the everyday humor that is part of life. I had the honor of portraying Pat Garvey at her Franklin/SCSD retirement party .Her laughing at me laughing about imitating her is a favorite memory. Above all, however, I will always think of Pat as someone who had great faith, adored her family and found joy in everyday experiences. She was/is one who inspires.

My deepest sympathy to Garvey family. I first heard of the Garvey as a little girl as my gramma Mary Russell lived across the street on S. Edwards Ave. There’s even a photo of me as a toddler w Jack Garvey! Then, at Franklin School I met Pat where she was the 6th grade teacher & I was the Art teacher. We shared many good times, & many laughs together. She was a fantastic teacher & disciplinarian. Her classes were great! Then one day my mom visited school & they had a great time going down memory lane. She truly was a memorable lady & happy to have known her-she was one of my favorite people there.

Mary , Kathleen and Joan , Every Sunday Mary Lee and I would receive the joy that your mom would bring us at mass and of course you kids. Then to be with you at school during the week reinforce the love of your family. We regret we will not be with you during this difficult time because we are in Florida, but be sure to know we will be praying for you all. It is important to know that your mom will continue to be your rock to depend on. Your mom is so proud of you all. I really think there are a couple of guys waiting to see her in heaven. Tom Muench

My heartfelt sympathies to the family. I will always be grateful to Pat for retiring when she did and giving me the opportunity for my first teaching position in SCSD. Even after her retirement she gave me encouragement and inspiration. I was never able to fill her shoes as hard as I tried but I did do my best. Thank you Pat for all you did for me. You will never be forgotten. Please keep on loving me
