To Pat and family, so sorry to hear about Bill. Enjoyed working with "Gotch" at Public Telephone/NYNEX for many years. He was always a lot of fun. I would run into him occasionally and he still had that way about him. My sympathies to you all. Judi Parker

It was a pleasure and a privilege to know Bill when he helped out with many programs at the Hazard Branch Library. A generous, kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. Difficult as this time is, to know that he is free of his physical limitations means that his spirit is free to soar like the Hot Air balloons he loved.
All best wishes and prayers for Pat and the rest of the family.
Love,
KarlW

Cousin Billy always had a friendly smile and a "Dad joke" or two for his relatives visiting from Arizona, Yvonne Clohecy Moulton and her two sons Burt (myself) and Evan Moulton. Evan sends holiday cards to those he considers his friends, he sent a 4rh of July card to him before he learned of his passing. I see that as a tribute to Bill's friendly ways from one cousin to another. Our condolences to Pat and all the Gottschall family. He will be missed and remembered in Arizona too.

Those of us who worked in County Parks were a lucky bunch. What defined that luck was being able to work with people like Bill who so graciously gave of his time and energy as the volunteer coordinator of the Jamesville Beach Balloon Festival. Events like that just wouldn't have happened as successfully as they did without people like Bill making them so. It was so sad to learn of Bill's passing. I am grateful to have known him.

May the winds welcome you with softness.
May the sun bless you with its warm hands.
May you fly so high and so well that God joins you in laughter
And sets you gently back into the loving arms of Mother Earth."

I have only known Bill and Pat a short time but was lucky enough to spend time as Bill's aide. Bill had a great sense of humor and would often tease me. It always made me happy to see him laugh, mostly at my expense. I am honored to have spent time with both Bill and Pat, and send my heartfelt sympathy.

Pat... I'm very sad at this news. Bill was a welcome kind and friendly acquaintance while I was at JBP. His passion for the success of the Balloon Fest was equal to his actions that benefited the Park in general and with that, the public that used the Park. I had good thoughts of "Big Bill" before becoming aware of his passing. And I'll keep the good thoughts for a long time yet to come. I'm sorry for your loss.

To Bill's Family,
I worked with Bill for several years with regards to the Balloon Fest when I was employed in the hotel field.
It was always good to sit and chat with him when he'd come in to make the plans for the crew's arrival.
I still have a few tee shirts from past that Bill always made sure I had. Really enjoyed our friendship.
Wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever
hold in your hearts.
Deepest sympathy,
Shelly Polge

Dear Mrs Gottschall, Kate, Tim, Jen
I am sorry to hear of Mr. G/your Dad's death. Please know you have mine (and my parents) most sincere condolences. So many good and fun memories with him and you all at your home, scouts, etc! I still have the original rhubarb plant. lol Please know that he and you all are in my prayers.
May the angels lead him into paradise;
may the martyrs come to welcome him
and take him to the holy city,
the new and eternal Jerusalem.
May choirs of angels welcome him
and lead him to the bosom of Abraham;
and where Lazarus is poor no longer
may he find eternal rest.
With love - Sean Esposito

Bill became good friend through years of negotiating all he could get for the balloonist stars of Jamesville Beach. He could be challenging to deal with at times yet that comes with the territory when dealing with one so passionate for his cause. Hard working, big hearted guy who will always be remembered.
