John Alan Murphy, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, NY passed away on November 17, 2022 at the age of 74. 
John was a graduate of Bishop Ludden Jr./Sr. High School.  He attended St. Gregory’s College in Shawnee, Oklahoma and went on to complete his degree at Loyola University Chicago.  He returned to Syracuse where he had a career in sales as well as bartending weddings and banquets at Borio’s Restaurant.  John had a love for the outdoors spending every fall hunting deer and waterfowl and every spring & summer fishing for walleyes and trout.  
John was predeceased by his parents Edward and Patricia.  He is survived by his brothers Michael (Sue), James (Jan) and Thomas; his three children: John (Beth) of Brewerton, Melissa Flanigan (Brian) of Long Island and Kevin (Steve) of Denver, CO; and his four grandchildren: Katherine, Gavin, Teagan and Kennedy. 
Calling hours Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2 p.m - 5 p.m at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, Inc. 3111 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13206.  Funeral Mass Monday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13206. 
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to either Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY or Upstate Cancer Center in Syracuse.
