Obituary of Laura (Pulaski) Osinski
Laura Pulaski Osinski (“Babci”)
Our beloved mother went to the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 106 years old, with her loved ones by her side. Laura was born on November 7, 1917, to the late Boleslaw and Stefania (Rogalski) Pulaski of Poland. Laura was a resident of Eastwood all her life.
As a child, life was not easy for Laura, being the oldest of eight siblings. She was a child of the Great Depression and a teen during the war years. Along with her parents, she worked for others to help support and keep their family together. She received her education at Huntington Elementary and Eastwood High School in Syracuse.
As an adult, Laura worked at many manufacturing companies, including the Pocketbook Factory and General Electric. She later acquired a position at the U.S. Post Office, retiring with twenty- five years of service.
Laura met her beloved husband, the late Joseph (“Joe the Welder,” or “Josef,” as she called him), at a dance. As we understand it, it was not “love at first sight” for our mom, but for him, there was no other woman. Josef persisted and won her over, and they were married during the first snowfall of 1940. Together, they raised three children, the late James Joseph, Stephanie (Mark) Rochin, and Mary Ann (Lawrence) Erardi. Laura is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Laura’s entire world revolved around her family. She made sure the refrigerator was stocked with food at all times and that nobody left her house hungry. When necessary, she made a “to-go” plate. She strongly believed in family, God, and traditional values and enjoyed sharing those beliefs with others. Her daily rosary for us kept us walking the “straight and narrow.”
Laura was a lifelong communicant of the Transfiguration Church of our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Syracuse, New York. She truly lived and served the Lord to the fullest. A phone call from the Pastor for help was all that was needed for her to be there to assist in any way she could, but our father had to be on “standby” to drive her. Laura’s volunteering was endless, serving as a Trustee at her Church for many years, holding offices for the Christian Mothers, Altar and Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, Choir, the Third Order of St. Francis, and numerous clothing drives, to name a few. Our mom’s legacy will live long in her service to the Church that she so loved.
Our mother was a great woman: sweet, kind, gentle, faith-filled, and who touched so many lives. We will greatly miss her, but we know as she stands before her Maker, she will receive her Eternal Reward as a true faithful servant of our Lord.
Mom, you are forever in our hearts. Kisses and hugs until we see each other again.
