James Walter Luce, 79, of Palm Bay, FL died on January 15, 2024 in Florida.  He was a graduate of Baker High School and has received degrees from Lemoyne College and the Catholic University of America.  Jim had retired as an Art Teacher from the Syracuse City School District.  He was a former priest in the Syracuse Diocese and served in Vestal and Syracuse.  He was also a designer for 11 years at Syracuse China, where he designed the Bi-Centennial pattern for the Corporation.  Jim was also active with the Pompeian Players and SPEBSQSA.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Robert J. and Marion Mathews Luce.
He is survived by his sister: Karen (Jerry) Schmigel; brother Robert (Linda); nephews: Matthew Bender, Caleb Bender, Grayson Bender; niece Emma Bender; cousins: Bob & Sharon Krause, David & Judy Krause.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 11:30am in St. John the Baptist Church.  Private entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.  Friends may greet the family from 10:30-11:30 before the mass in church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Loaves and Fishes at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish, 300 Malabar Road, Palm Bay, Florida 32907.
