Obituary of Irene A. Wolpink
Irene Wolpink recently passed away at her home, a short time after celebrating her 94th birthday.
Born in Ashland Wisconsin, her early life was lived on the family dairy farm. In her early twenties, she followed her brother, Chet, to Syracuse, New York and soon after, married Edward J. Wolpink. Ed and Irene enjoyed 40 years together before his unexpected passing away during a 1989 family vacation to Disney World.
During Irene’s lifetime, she dedicated herself to family, friends, community, and country. After raising 6 children, welcoming 4 of their spouses, she was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In her wisdom years, her favorite thing to do was babysitting, seeing pictures, visiting and spending time with the grands. They were her pride and joy. Farm upbringing always led her back to the dirt as an avid, hardworking backyard gardener. Irene served with the American Legion Post #1650 and 8 et 40.
Loving memories of large family life, including numerous extended family in-laws, cousins, classmates, neighbors, pets and Sunday family car rides will remain with her family. Irene will be greatly missed. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Ed, grandson, Baby Joey Giocondo, brothers, Walter and Chet (Bertha) sister, Laura (Otto) Miller, sister-in-law, Helen Wolpink (Vincent) Czerniewski and many friends.
Irene leaves behind four daughters and two sons: Patricia (Gary) Stowell, Barbara (Joe) Giocondo, Elaine Wolpink, Joseph Wolpink, Edward (Susan) Wolpink, and Brenda (Joe) Metrick with 9 grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Weston, Michael Giocondo, David (Elizabeth) Giocondo, Alise (Ken) Kennan, Adam (Briana) Wolpink, Nicole (Mitchell) Sofranko, Joseph Metrick and Matthew Metrick, 11 great-grandchild, cousin-in-law/bridesmaid, Pauline (Tony) Fallico, nephew, Ken (Mary) Derda and many more nieces and nephews.
