Obituary of Dale T. Brady
Dale T. Brady, 83, of Syracuse, N.Y., passed away peacefully in Winter Park, Fla. on August 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and his devoted partner of 22 years, Cynthia Winslow.
A cherished member of the Syracuse and Sarasota, Fla. communities, Dale was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church on James Street in Eastwood. Dale’s commitment to service extended beyond his faith. As a long-time member of Union Teamsters Local 22, based in Central New York, he served with distinction as vice president, reflecting his deep commitment to workers’ rights and fair treatment. He was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish Catholic fraternal organization.
His professional career included 35 years with Borden’s Ice Cream in East Syracuse, N.Y., followed by 15 years in the transportation and operations department of Walmart, Inc. During his extensive career, he never called in sick or missed a day of work. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and those around him.
A native of Watertown, N.Y., Dale was a 1959 graduate of Eastwood High School in Syracuse, N.Y.
One of Dale’s greatest joys was his time spent at his beloved lake cottage on Fourth Lake in Eagle Bay, N.Y. spanning several decades. It was here, among the tranquil beauty of the Adirondack Mountains, that he created countless cherished memories with his family and close friends. The laughter and love shared during these gatherings were highlights of his life, reflecting his deep appreciation for family and the simple pleasures of life.
Dale’s adoration for his grandchildren was boundless. He found immense joy in their presence and celebrated their milestones with pride.
Dale was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Patricia (O’Brien) Brady, in 1996. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Brady of Winter Park, Fla., and James Brady of Danville, Calif.; a daughter, Jennifer Mannion of Syracuse; his beloved partner, Cynthia Winslow; seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. His legacy of kindness, advocacy, quick-witted humor and love will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Dale's life will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James St, Syracuse, NY 13206, on Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Central New York and The Finger Lakes, honoring his lifelong commitment to helping others.
