Obituary of Karl R. Lutz

Karl R. Lutz, 92, a life long resident of Syracuse, died on October 8, 2024 at his home. 
He attended  Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Eastwood High School.  He also attended CCBI for 1 year and the design school in Vermont.   He retired as President of Karl Lutz Monument Co. in Eastwood, a company his father established in 1932.  He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church his entire life.
His camp in the woods of Constantia, NY was his favorite place to be.  He bought 66 acres of woods with his brother George in 1952. They worked to clear out a road into the woods and created a pond from a spring on the property.  Every weekend for many years Karl and Carol would host family and friends at their camp.  They also went to Inverness, Florida to their "winter camp" from January through March for several years.
Karl was predeceased by his parents: Karl and Irma Lutz; and sisters: Luzia Muller, Louise Murphy, Ruth Rinefierd; and a brother George Lutz. 
He is survived by his wife the former Carol Francis, whom he married on April 16, 1955; his children: Deborah (John Luke) Kotash of Syracuse, Karl Jr. (Janet) of North Syracuse, Kathleen (Phil) Manzene of Fayetteville; sister Louise “Diane” Lutz-Zader of Tully; sisters-in-law: Kitty (Jack) Verrette of Liverpool, Joyce Prince of East Syracuse, Marlena Francis of San Diego, Elizabeth Francis of Fayetteville; brother-in-law Herman Rinefierd of Liverpool; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 11 from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.  The funeral mass will be Saturday at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
