Obituary of Wayne D. Para

Wayne D. Para, 82, of Syracuse, died on November 19, 2024 at University Hospital.   He had retired as a self employed truck driver.  Wayne had served for 15 years in the US Marine Corps and 12 years with the Air National Guard for the 174th.  He had received the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Achievement Medal, Vietnam Combat Medal and others.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Peggy, his parents: George and Irene Doe Para and a brother Ron.
Wayne is survived by 3 sons: Gregory T. of Myakka City, FL, Stephen D. (Cindy) of Stephen City, VA, Keith L. (Carol) of East Syracuse; his daughter Theresa Marie Para of Liverpool; his brother Stephen of Jamesville; a sister Linda Porter of Apulia Station; grandchildren: Keith (Cassie), Brian (Callie), Michael (Amanda), Cameron, Zack (Ashley), Mackenzie, Maddie, Luke (Sara), Sam Para, Johnny & Wayne Sgroi; great-grandchild: Kylie, Mason, Sydney, Jojo, Owen; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
Calling Hours are Monday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.
