The last time I saw Mr. Frappier was in 1972 at my Mother's wake. I hadn't seen him or spoken to him in 3 or 4 years. I can't even begin to convey what that meant to me. I was 12 years old when Mr. Frappier came home from Vietnam and took over Troup 96. He must have been around 21-22 at the time. I will never forget him walking into the cafeteria at ES Middle School wearing his dress blues smoking a pipe. I'd been in 96 for about a year and I think over that time we had gone on 2-3 camping trips. First think Mr. Frappier did was to establish monthly camping trips. We were astatic. Spring, Fall, Winter and summer camp. First year at Woodland, after that Sabbatis. He never pushed the Merrit Badge agenda on us, though he was there to encourage us if that's what you wanted. It was all about having fun and enjoying our youth. Day long hikes, guitar and singing around the campfire, ghost stories that would literally keep us awake all night. Stories I would share with my kids years later. I learned about Chesty Puller from him. He was a big influence on me and to this day, I think of him often with great fondness. RIP Sir! Semper Fi!!

Another memory...
Being self aware that I am long winded, I would like to describe one of my more memorable moments with him. Read on if you would like to hear more about this man...
I was only 11 years old and away from home for 2 weeks in the Adirondack Mountains at Sabbatis Scout Camp. It was time to attempt a 1 mile swim to obtain a coveted badge of accomplishment. Approximately 100 scouts got in the lake around 6:30 pm and we all began to swim 4 times around a quarter mile set of large buoys. My older brother's friend Jerry Testa lapped me 3 times and joked with me as he passed by and told me I could make it. All were finished with their swim except me. My Scout Master Mr. Frappier got in a row boat with his assistant Steve Vershak and they began to row along side of me to encourage me. It was getting dark so they had a coleman lantern in their boat. I could see a fire that some lit on the shore and I didn't think I could make it as I had been side stroking and backstroking for 1+1/2 hours by then. He kept telling me not to quit and I didn't want to disappoint him, so I kept going. By the time I finished, I could barely stand on the shore and all were waiting for me and congratulating me on the accomplishment around the fire in the dark! I will never forget that moment.
Thanks for being a solid Father figure for me.
Thanks for playing CCR songs on your guitar around the fire on camping trips.
Thanks for checking on us continually, keeping us warm, and watching over us in cold weather camping.
Thanks for making us attend church every Sunday when camping.
Thanks for your kindness mixed with stern discipline.
You will never be forgotten.

I was one of Craig’s boy scouts. The lessons I learned from him cannot be measured, but have used the rest of my life. He always stood behind my goals of leadership from patrol leader, senior patrol leader, junior assistant scoutmaster, and assistant scoutmaster. Unfortunately, I only saw him once since I joined the military. I have always kept him with high respect. My condolences to all his survivors.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I was truly fortunate to have been a member of troop 96 under Mr. Frappier. I remember the first time I met him as he was introduced as our new Scoutmaster. Fresh out of the Marine Corps his commanding presence was inspiring to myself and the other scouts. His tough but fair style of leadership taught us not only basic scouting skills, but life skills also. From survival skills to how to be good citizens, Mr Frappier always had a way of instilling his knowledge and experience, for this I will always be grateful.

Barbara and family...So sorry to learn of Craig's passing. He was such a kind and giving man, volunteering for St Joseph's for 11 years and over 2400 hours is a testament to his character. I am really glad our paths have crossed and for that I am thankful! Wishing you peace to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

To Barb and family
Deepest condolences to you and family. It was a pleasure to meet Craig at many gatherings both at your home and Jason and Wendy’s. I also appreciated Craig visiting my husband when he was at St. Joes before his untimely death.
