Mary K. Merle October 13, 2014 Mary K. (Kotas) Merle, 90, of Mattydale, died peacefully and went into God's loving arms on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Syracuse on January 15, 1924 to John and Victoria (Szafraniec) Kotas. She was a graduate of Central City Business School and was a veteran of the WACS Army during WWII. She retired in 1986 as a Billing Clerk after 20 years with the Syracuse Blueprint Co. She was a member of the AARP. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, William H. Merle, on August 21, 1998. She was also predeceased by her 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Mrs. Merle is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Mary Louise Merle of Mattydale and several nieces and nephews. Mary's family would like to extend a very big and heartfelt thank you to Jim & Laura Ptak, Joe & Kathy Ptak, Bess & Tony Bamonte, Mardee Wilder, Joanne Allen, Mary Beary, Roxanne Sprague, Julie Partridge and Kathy Epolito who helped and supported us and the St. Margaret's Parish family for all their thoughts and prayers. Funeral Services are Friday at 9:15 at Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home followed by a mass at 10AM in St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery Resurrection Chapel. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home, 1217 N. Salina St., Syracuse.
