Obituary of Rosemarie F. Loftus

Rosemarie F. Loftus, 92, formerly of the Syracuse Northside, died on Sunday at the Grand Nursing home in Chittenango. She was a native of Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School and CCBI. Mrs. Loftus retired in 1997 after 38 years as the comptroller of Penfield Manufacturing. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. Mrs. Loftus was a member of many professional clubs, including: Administrative Management Society, American Business Women's Association, Business & Professionals of Syracuse, Northside Business Association and the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Arthritis Foundation, The Discovery Center, Marriott Executive Swim Club, Parents Without Partners, Syracuse Area Landmark Theatre, Syracuse Corinthian Club, Syracuse University Orange Pack, Wagon Wheel Senior Citizens Club, Widow & Widowers of CNY, and the Syracuse Zonta Club. Mrs. Loftus also volunteered for the Crouse Irving Memorial Auxiliary, Everson Museum, Landmark Theatre Guild, Onondaga County Women's Republican Party Club, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra Guild, Syracuse Opera Club, Bridge Clubs, Wagon Wheel Toastmaster \ Club, and the Select Toastmasters Club. She was pre-deceased by her husband John E. Loftus who died in 1970, her parents: Onofrio and Margaret Favorito, and her son-in-law Richard J. Swiniuch, P.E. She is survived by her daughters: Marie (John) Loftus Mariani of Solvay, Donna Swiniuch (nee Loftus) of North Tonawanda, NY; sisters: Nancy Lawson of Hampton, VA, Margaret Cavelos of North Syracuse; and a granddaughter Abigail Swiniuch. Funeral services are Friday at 8:30 at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9AM in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-7pm at the funeral home, 1217 N. Salina St. Memorial contributions may be made to Arthritis Foundation.
