So sorry I didn't happen on Harold's notice sooner. I would see him after school on the bus going downtown, and he was always friendly and kind.

The obituary was very well written. HB certainly was a man of character, always polite and always ready for a good time. I will always remember him and his ability to force me to "stop and smell the roses." Often I'd be rushing around in the morning trying to get everything done and everybody out the door at James St., as Harold and I would walk to art class, he would literally put down his bags and stop to smell the roses. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to get to know him.

I remember HB from my time at L'Arche in Syracuse in the fall of 1997, and from subsequent visits I have made over the years. I lived at Butternut Street house, so I never lived with or knew him very well, but whenever I met him, HB struck me as a sweet, happy and kind man. I would have loved to have known him better. The legacy of the relationships he formed, the memories and the lives he touched will live on, that is for sure!
I have shared his wonderful and touching obituary with members of the L'Arche community in Bognor Regis, UK, of which I am now a member. People like HB from the Syracuse community have taught and kept me connected over the years to the values L'Arche stands for, which are so clearly needed across the world. Thank you, God, for Harold and his time in L'Arche!
With every blessing,
Hugh Campkin

HB!
I'm so sorry for I can't be there. I really miss your hug.
You helped me a lot in different ways, and you encouraged me when I was there. As I told you, you're my best friend I can't never ever have in my life. Really miss singing and dancing with you. Harry, love you so much and rest in peace. Miss you, my best friend. Tulooloo!
