Obituary of James M. Thompson

James M. Thompson, 54, of East Syracuse, died on Friday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He had retired after 25 years of service from the Syracuse University Department of Public Safety. He was an avid SU, Ravens and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed being outdoors at the family camp and mowing lawns for other people. His wife Carroll died in 2014. He is survived by his daughters: Jaime (Brian) Young of Clay, Erin (Kyle) Kolwaite of Syracuse, Emily Thompson of East Syracuse; brothers: Steve (Bridget) Thompson of Syracuse, Dave (Pam) Thompson of Maryland; sister Char (Vic) Basile of Binghamton; a granddaughter Riley Young and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10:30AM in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.
