Sally Anne Schroeder, recently of Iroquois Nursing Home in Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, November 9. Born in 1936, in Evanston, Illinois to Viktor and Anne Eleanor Knutson Ekman, Mrs. Schroeder spent most of her adult life in Mt. Prospect and Rolling Meadows, IL., and for the past seven years in Syracuse, NY.
Sally began her decades-long career in customer service as a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell and later with Northrup Corporation. She volunteered as a Camp Fire Girl leader, enjoyed horseback riding and boating and was famous for her German potato salad. Sally was a communicant of St. Raymond’s Church in Mt. Prospect, IL., and Blessed Sacrament Church in Syracuse, NY.
Sally is survived by her daughter Karen Schroeder (James Williams) of Syracuse; 2 brothers: Robert (Linn) Olin of Virginia; and Thomas (Jean) Olin of Arizona; former sister-in-law Linda King Olin of Virginia; her grandson Alexander Williams and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 9:00am-10:30am, followed by a funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church on Tuesday, November 15.
