Obituary of Anne M. Carr

Anne M. Carr, 86, of Syracuse, died on Friday, January 20th surrounded by her family at Francis House. Born January 21, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, she spent most of her adult life in Syracuse.
Mrs. Carr was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was always generous with her time which she spent on family and friends. Mrs. Carr had retired from the Syracuse City School District after more than 20 years of service. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Woodbine Enterprises, Antiques and Better Collectibles, and Anne & Lacy’s Antiques. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member and past-president of the Altar & Rosary Society, a volunteer for the Outreach Program and organized the annual Church Garage Sale. Anne was also a supporter of the Eastwood Little League, Boy Scouts and the Eastwood Eagles Softball League. From early in her childhood and throughout her life, Anne enjoyed vacationing in Margate, NJ.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Bernard, parents Joseph and Anne Marie Meiers, step-mother Grace Meiers, brothers: William and Andrew Meiers and sister Mary Grace Meiers.
She is survived 5 sons: Bernard P. (Valerie)II, James J. (Tracey), John M., David E. (Sonya), Brian G. (Kerrie); 2 daughters: Denise (Michael) Staley, Elizabeth Carr, brothers: Joseph and Francis Meiers, sisters: Joan Homiller and Clare Reilly, 12 grandchildren: Andrew & Megan Staley, Daniel, Jacquelyn, Jamison, Donovan, India, Kaeley, Lily Marie, MacKenzie, Madison, Patrick Carr; great-grandchildren Jacob & Jeremiah Sutton; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:30AM in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the funeral home 3111, James Street. Friends wishing may contribute to the Blessed Sacrament Church Outreach Program.
