Obituary of John H. Kirkpatrick III

John Kirkpatrick III expired, 7/15/17, of heart failure at Strong Memorial, Rochester. His was a sweet death, peaceful, painless and gentle, just as he had lived.
 
Born 8/27/1944, the war baby of John H II and Margaret Lane Kirkpatrick, Harrisburg. John’s Dad did not meet his son until he was almost one. He was stationed overseas.
 
John grew up in Harrisburg & Richmond where he attended Huguenot HS and graduated from William & Mary. In Syracuse he continued grad school at SU, majoring in English & Theatre, the goal was teaching. It was here that he formed his family unit.
 
John’s only sibling, Daniel, editor and owner of the St. James Press, London, was declared missing-at-sea, in 2011, a tragic accident.  Surviving are two Kirkpatrick cousins in MD and Lane cousins and an Aunt in PA. In Syracuse, he is survived by the Corsello family. Especially, Julian Corsello and Alex Corsello, his surrogate family since 1960. This Irishman became an Italian.
 
John worked at the Spanish Action League, helping to establish that agency in Syracuse;  CED/Baldwin Hall, Electrolines, Inc. and City Electric Co. Inc. from which he retired in 2016.
 
John was active in the theatre, producing, directing and appearing in a multitude of plays (pro & semi-pro). His reviews were laudatory. His talent was total and he could do it all with ease.
 
Everyone who knew John, from family, friends, career, the stage, loved and admired him. His heart was generous and gentle. He was a friend for life. He was truly non-judgmental and lived without malice.
He will always be alive to all who have had the honor of his friendship.
