John Francis Burns, 58, passed away peacefully on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family.   John was born in Albany, NY and moved to Syracuse at a young age.  He was a 1978 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy.  John had a deep love of literature and history.  He often read numerous books on a daily basis.
He was predeceased by his parents John W. & Patricia Burns.
He is survived by a sister: Sheila (Joseph) Zimmerman of Syracuse; brother: James C. (Kathy) Burns of Cazenovia; niece Laura Zimmerman; and 3 nephews: John & Ryan Zimmerman and Matthew Burns.
Funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Onondaga County Public Library, 447 South Salina St., Syracuse 13202.
