Obituary of Viola Farnett

Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Viola Farnett, 88, a life long resident of Syracuse, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday.  Throughout her life, she was employed in various local retail stores as a cosmetic consultant.  Viola was a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, and was a Eucharistic minister and active member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She had a passion for helping others, and was a long time volunteer at James Square Nursing Home. Viola was devoted to her family and loved them beyond measure. She was a wonderful caretaker to her mother for many years. The family is grateful to the PACE program for helping them care for Viola for the past 10 years, and to the dedicated staff at Forestview for the kindness and care she received there.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Rose and Patsy Farnett and brother John Farnett.
She is survived by Charles (Carol) Lion; granddaughters Carla (Dave) Dellacontrada, Nicole Lion; great grandchildren: Eric & Lucas Fernandez, Sophia & Ava Smith; and several aunts and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 9am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
