Obituary of Martha Martin

Martha R. Martin, 69, of Syracuse died on Saturday.  Her parents were Frank G. Rhodes, Sr and Elenita E.(Ryan) Rhodes.  Surviving family members include her husband: Peter Martin; daughters: Jean (Rob) Guanciale of Clay, Jennifer (David) Huyck of Mattydale; son: Anthony (Melinda) Petrarca of Liverpool,  brothers: W. Emerson (Joann) Rhodes of Cincinnati, Frank (Barbara) Rhodes, Jr. of Syracuse; sister-in-law Debbie Martin of Weedsport; and six grandchildren. Martha was predeceased by her brother John E. Rhodes. Martha retired from UPS after many years in customer service.  She was a life long resident of the Eastwood neighborhood, and a life long member of Blessed Sacrament Church.  Martha served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society at Blessed Sacrament.  
Calling hours will  be held at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street on Wednesday from 4 to 7:00pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 9:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
