Obituary of Margaret J. Ruane

Margaret “Peg” (Kinne) Ruane, age 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019 surrounded at home by her loving husband and family.  The family is forever grateful for the wonderful and compassionate services provided by Hospice of CNY.
Peg graduated with a degree in Hotel Management in 1982 from SUNY Cobleskill. She worked as head of food services at Lourdes Camp in Skaneateles where she met and later married her husband of 33 years, Gerald Ruane. She worked for the following 28 years as a Group Home Supervisor for Toomey Residential Services of Catholic Charities in Syracuse, NY. Peg was a kind soul who always saw the best in people and was loved and respected by both co-workers and the kids in her care. 
Peg will always be remembered for her talents in catering, creating beautiful specialty cakes, and crafting spectacular Christmas Cookie trays which she generously made for friends and family. She loved being part of family functions and taking her annual trips to Myrtle Beach, Maine, and James Taylor concerts. 
Peg is survived by her husband Gerald; her mother Jane McNeilly Kinne of North Syracuse; brothers Chuck (Ellie) Kinne of Eastwood and Steve (Ann) Kinne of Chittenango. She was pre-deceased by her father, Charles H. Kinne (2006). Peg’s extended in-law family and many nieces and nephews will miss her dearly as well. Finally, she leaves behind her ever-faithful dog “Murphy.”
In her typical understated way, Peg wished to have an informal memorial service with family and friends. This celebration of her life will be held at Lourdes Camp on Skaneateles Lake (address: 1150 10-Mile Point Rd, Skaneateles, NY 13152) on Sunday, June 23, at 5:00pm.
Peg had requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Lourdes Camp (c/o Mike Preston, 1654 West Onondaga St, Syracuse, NY 13204).
