Obituary of Elfriede H. Giordano

Elfriede “Elfie” H. Giordano, 90, died on Sunday, June 23 in Syracuse. She was born on April 10th, 1929 in Germany and her parents were Paul and Lina Heunemann. She came to Syracuse in the fall of 1961 and lived the rest of her life here. She worked as a switchboard receptionist at Hardware Mutual Insurance (which later became Sentry Insurance), HSBC and then finally at P.H.P Health in Syracuse. She was known by friends for her cooking and baking skills.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, her son Dieter Schuch and her husband David. She is survived by her son Powell Griggs and his wife Ella Smith, her sister Uta and brother-in-law Jurgen Bimbuese of Meiningen Germany, their children Kirstin and Thomas, and life long Syracuse friend Gitta Trippany.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 10am in the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.
