Obituary of Bernice Obrist Tolles

Bernice Obrist Tolles, 97, of Syracuse, died on Saturday at the Jewish Home. She had retired as a vice president of the Young Agency after 55 years of service. Mrs. Tolles was a charter member of the Syracuse Insurance Professions and a member of the NY State Federation of Insurance Women. She was the "Insurance Woman of the year" in 1974 and received the "Insurance Person of the Year Award" in 1986 from the Professional Insurance Association. She is a former member of the Corinthian Club and the Mariner's Club, and past president of the Huntington Foundation. Mrs. Tolles enjoyed bowling for many years. She was a member of the St. Stephen Lutheran Church. She was pre-deceased by her first husband William W. Winter in 1960 and her second husband Willard F. Tolles in 2002. She is survived by her nephews: C. Douglas (Mary) Obrist of Canastota, Thomas Ford of Corpus Christi, TX; niece Susan Ford Allen of Gorham, IL; step son Willard Tolles Jr.; step-daughter Gloria Foley; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. Friends may greet the family from 9-11 before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home, 1217 N.
