Obituary of Susanne M. Murray

Susanne M. “Sue” Murray, 61, died on Friday, April 24, 2020 at home with her family. She was born in Syracuse, a graduate of Bishop Grimes High School, SUNY Geneseo, and received her Master’s Degree at Buffalo State. She was an accomplished Basketball and Softball player at Geneseo and in the City Rec League. She and her family owned and operated Murrays’ Tavern for 37 years. She loved the friends she made while working at Murrays’. She was a fan of the Mets, NY Giants, and SU. She loved and was appreciative of her “Posse” who were with her and supported her for the past 5 years. Sue loved making and decorating Christmas cookies, Hallmark Movies, running with her sister and M&M's. She was cherished by everyone who came into her circle of life. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend who would go above and beyond to help when needed. She was grateful for the care she received on 3-1, 3-2 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her brother John. She is survived by her mother Barbara; sister Mary Beth (Bryon) Rice-Mitchell; brother Michael (Lorraine) Murray; sister in law: Patricia Murray; nieces: Kara Murray Pugh, Leslie Murray; nephews: Daniel Rice, Joshua & Patrick Murray; great-niece: Keira Murray and her long time friend Sue Karl. Sue has chosen to be an anatomical donor with the hope that further research of her rare cancer will benefit others. There will be a celebration of her life in the future.
