Obituary of K. Kelly Martin

K. Kelly (Kathy) Martin was born in Rome, NY on May 3, 1951. She died in Syracuse on April 29, 2020 after a prolonged illness. Kelly graduated from Rome Catholic High School and she received her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. She graduated from the Syracuse University School of Law and was a member of the NYS Bar association until her retirement. Kelly was a life long scouter, receiving the Gold Award in Girl Scouts as a youth and serving in many roles with her local BSA Council. Among her many accolades, she received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. She was on the Catholic Committee for Scouting and a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. Kelly’s greatest joy in her later years was her role as “Gram” to her six grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Patrick Kelly (Louise), her sister Jean Kelly, her children, Daniel Martin (Emilie), Caitlyn Burns (James Burns) and Siobvan Martin, her grandchildren Tess, Norah, Connor, William, Anthony and Isabella as well many nieces and nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Veronica and Michael Kelly, her brother, Jim Kelly, and her children Clare Martin and Nicholas Martin. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse for the many years of care they provided to Kelly prior to her passing. A mass of Christian burial will be held privately on Monday, May 4, 2020 and interment will follow at a later date at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rome, NY.
