Obituary of Edward F. Burgmeier

Edward F. Burgmeier, 97, of Syracuse, died on Thursday at Iroquois Nursing Home. He had retired in 1984 after 30 years with Crouse Hinds and was the former owner with his wife of Dot and Bill's Restaurant in Canastota. He was a regular attendee of Crouse Hinds Clam Bakes and functions since his retirement. Mr. Burgmeier enjoyed model trains with his grandsons and family. Traveling to Las Vegas with his Uncle Floyd "Whitey" Ecker was another joy of his life. In his younger years, he was known as a good story teller. He retained a vast knowledge base of older and classic movies. His life was lived without the help of any medication or medical assistance. He enjoyed his time with his coffee mates and was considered a connoisseur of beer. He was pre-deceased by his wife Clara and his sister Ruth Rapp. He is survived by his sons: Edward F. of Tulsa, OK, Richard J. (Margo) of Mattydale; brother Frank of Liverpool; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday Aug. 5th at 6-9pm at the Welter-Price Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
